^2 (A)This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for ^(B)no one can do these signs that You do unless ^(C)God is with him.”

³⁸ how ^(A)God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who ^(B)went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, ^(C)for God was with Him.

²² “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you ^(A)by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—

³⁶ But ^(A)I have a greater witness than John’s; for ^(B)the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very ^(C)works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

¹⁶ saying, ^(A)“What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a ^[a]notable miracle has been done through them is ^(B)evident^[b] to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. ¹⁷ But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.”

^47 (A)Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, ^(B)“What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. ⁴⁸ If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”

³⁰ The man answered and said to them, ^(A)“Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes! ³¹ Now we know that ^(B)God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. ³² Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. ^33 (C)If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”

¹⁶ Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not ^[a]keep the Sabbath.”

Others said, ^(A)“How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And ^(B)there was a division among them.

¹⁶ And they sent to Him their disciples with the ^(A)Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not ^[a]regard the person of men.
