Jesus Appears to Seven Disciples

21 After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he showed himself in this way.^(A)

Feeding the Five Thousand

6 After this Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, also called the Sea of Tiberias.^[a]

²³ But some boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.^(A)

³² “But after I am raised up, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”^(A)

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

¹⁹ When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors were locked where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”^{(A) 20} After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.^{(B) 21} Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”^{(C) 22} When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. ²³ If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”^(D)

Jesus and Thomas

²⁴ But Thomas (who was called the Twin^[a]), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.^{(E) 25} So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”^(F)

²⁶ A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”^{(G) 27} Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.”^{(H) 28} Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” ²⁹ Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”^(I)

The Commissioning of the Disciples

¹⁶ Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.^(A)

⁷ Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead,^[a] and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ This is my message for you.”^(A)

¹⁴ This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.^(A)

Jesus Appears to Two Disciples

¹² After this he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country.

⁷ But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.”^(A)
