²⁶ And ^[a]after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been ^[b]shut, and stood in their midst and said, “^(A)Peace be with you.” ²⁷ Then He *said to Thomas, “^(B)Bring your finger here, and see My hands; and bring your hand here and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” ²⁸ Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” ²⁹ Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? ^(C)Blessed are those who did not see, and yet believed.”

Why This Gospel Was Written

^30 (D)Therefore many other ^[c](E)signs Jesus also did in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; ³¹ but these have been written ^(F)so that you may believe that Jesus is the ^[d]Christ, ^(G)the Son of God; and that ^(H)believing you may have life in His name.
