The Purpose of This Gospel

³⁰ Jesus performed many other signs^(A) in the presence of his disciples that are not written^(B) in this book.^{(C) 31} But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah,^(D) the Son^(E) of God,^[a](F) and that by believing you may have life in his name.^(G)

³⁷ If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, he should recognize that what I write to you is the Lord’s command.
