²⁰ After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.^(A)

²² So you have pain now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.^(A)

The Word of Life

1 We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life^(A)—

²⁷ Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.”^(A)

³⁴ Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out.^(A)

²⁰ Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy.

³⁹ Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see, for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”^{(A) 40} And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.^{[a] 41} Yet for all their joy they were still disbelieving and wondering, and he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?”^(B)

⁸ So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to tell his disciples.
