Jesus Appears to the Disciples

^19 (A)On the evening ^(B)of that day, the first day of the week, ^(C)the doors being locked where the disciples were ^(D)for fear of the Jews,^[a] Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ^(E)“Peace be with you.”

²⁶ Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. ^(A)Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ^(B)“Peace be with you.”

^27 (A)Peace I leave with you; ^(B)my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. ^(C)Let not your hearts be troubled, neither ^(D)let them be afraid.

²¹ Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As ^(A)the Father has sent me, ^(B)even so I am sending you.”

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

³⁶ As they were talking about these things, ^(A)Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” ³⁷ But they were ^(B)startled and ^(C)frightened and ^(D)thought they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. ^(E)Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” ⁴⁰ And when he had said this, ^(F)he showed them his hands and his feet. ⁴¹ And while they still disbelieved ^(G)for joy and were marveling, ^(H)he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” ⁴² They gave him a piece of broiled fish,^{[a] 43} and he took it and ate before them.

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, ^(I)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, ^(J)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” ⁴⁵ Then ^(K)he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, ⁴⁶ and said to them, “Thus ^(L)it is written, ^(M)that the Christ should suffer and on the third day ^(N)rise from the dead, ⁴⁷ and that ^(O)repentance for^[b] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed ^(P)in his name ^(Q)to all nations, ^(R)beginning from Jerusalem. ^48 (S)You are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And behold, I am sending ^(T)the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you ^(U)are clothed with ^(V)power ^(W)from on high.”

¹⁴ For ^(A)he himself is our peace, ^(B)who has made us both one and has broken down ^(C)in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility

Benediction

¹⁶ Now may ^(A)the Lord of peace himself ^(B)give you peace at all times in every way. ^(C)The Lord be with you all.

¹³ Yet ^(A)for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.

The Great Commission

¹⁴ Afterward ^(A)he appeared ^(B)to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their ^(C)unbelief and ^(D)hardness of heart, because ^(E)they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.
