¹⁷ Jesus said to her, “Do not touch me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”^(A)

⁶ And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our^[a] hearts, crying, “Abba!^[b] Father!”^{(A) 7} So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir through God.^[c]

⁸ Therefore it is said,

⁹ (When it says, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended^[b] into the lower parts of the earth?^{[c] 10} He who descended is the same one who ascended far above all the heavens, so that he might fill all things.)

²⁶ for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.^(A)

¹¹ For the one who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father.^[a] For this reason Jesus^[b] is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters,^{(A) 12} saying,

¹³ And again,

And again,

²⁸ I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and am going to the Father.”^(A)

A Living Hope

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead^(A)

² Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he^[a] is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.^(A)

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him,^{(A) 18} so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may perceive what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, ¹⁹ and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. ²⁰ God^[a] put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,^{[b](B) 21} far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come.^{(C) 22} And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church,^{(D) 23} which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.^(E)
