¹² and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet.^(A)

⁴ Yet you have still a few persons in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes; they will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy.^(A)

³ but when they went in they did not find the body.^{[a] 4} While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them.^{(A) 5} The women^[b] were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men^[c] said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen.^{[d] 6} Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,^{(B) 7} that the Son of Man must be handed over to the hands of sinners and be crucified and on the third day rise again.”

¹⁴ I said to him, “Sir, you are the one who knows.” Then he said to me, “These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.^(A)

¹⁰ While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them.^(A)

²² Moreover, some women of our group astounded us. They were at the tomb early this morning,^{(A) 23} and when they did not find his body there they came back and told us that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who said that he was alive.

⁵ As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.^{(A) 6} But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him.^(B)

² And suddenly there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.^{(A) 3} His appearance was like lightning and his clothing white as snow. ⁴ For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. ⁵ But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.^(B)

² And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became bright as light.
