Jesus Changes Water Into Wine
2 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee.(A) Jesus’ mother(B) was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
4 “Woman,[a](C) why do you involve me?”(D) Jesus replied. “My hour(E) has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”(F)
6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing,(G) each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[b]
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.(H) He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs(I) through which he revealed his glory;(J) and his disciples believed in him.(K)
12 After this he went down to Capernaum(L) with his mother(M) and brothers(N) and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.
Jesus Clears the Temple Courts(O)
13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover,(P) Jesus went up to Jerusalem.(Q) 14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves,(R) and others sitting at tables exchanging money.(S) 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house(T) into a market!” 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”[c](U)
18 The Jews(V) then responded to him, “What sign(W) can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”(X)
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”(Y)
20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body.(Z) 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said.(AA) Then they believed the scripture(AB) and the words that Jesus had spoken.
23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival,(AC) many people saw the signs(AD) he was performing and believed(AE) in his name.[d] 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind,(AF) for he knew what was in each person.(AG)

2 Und am dritten Tage war eine Hochzeit zu Kana in Galiläa, und die Mutter Jesu war dort. 2 Aber auch Jesus wurde samt seinen Jüngern zur Hochzeit geladen. 3 Und als es an Wein mangelte, spricht die Mutter Jesu zu ihm: Sie haben keinen Wein. 4 Jesus spricht zu ihr: Weib, was habe ich mit dir zu schaffen[a]? Meine Stunde ist noch nicht gekommen!
5 Seine Mutter spricht zu den Dienern: Was er euch sagen wird, das tut! 6 Es waren aber daselbst sechs steinerne Wasserkrüge, nach der Sitte der jüdischen Reinigung, wovon jeder zwei oder drei Eimer faßte. 7 Jesus spricht zu ihnen: Füllet die Krüge mit Wasser! Und sie füllten sie bis obenan. 8 Und er spricht zu ihnen: Schöpfet nun und bringet es dem Speisemeister! Und sie brachten es.
9 Als aber der Speisemeister das Wasser, das zu Wein geworden war, gekostet hatte (und er wußte nicht, woher es war; die Diener aber, die das Wasser geschöpft hatten, wußten es), ruft der Speisemeister den Bräutigam 10 und spricht zu ihm: Jedermann setzt zuerst den guten Wein vor, und wenn sie trunken geworden sind, alsdann den geringern; du hast den guten Wein bis jetzt behalten!
11 Diesen Anfang der Zeichen machte Jesus zu Kana in Galiläa und offenbarte seine Herrlichkeit, und seine Jünger glaubten an ihn.
12 Darnach zog er hinab nach Kapernaum, er und seine Mutter und seine Brüder und seine Jünger, und sie blieben nicht viele Tage daselbst.

13 Und das Passah der Juden war nahe, und Jesus zog hinauf nach Jerusalem. 14 Und er fand im Tempel die Verkäufer von Ochsen und Schafen und Tauben und die Wechsler, die dasaßen. 15 Und er machte eine Geißel aus Stricken und trieb sie alle zum Tempel hinaus, samt den Schafen und Ochsen, und den Wechslern verschüttete er das Geld und stieß die Tische um 16 und sprach zu denen, welche die Tauben feilboten: Traget das von dannen! Machet nicht meines Vaters Haus zu einem Kaufhaus! 17 Es dachten aber seine Jünger daran, daß geschrieben steht:
„Der Eifer um dein Haus verzehrt mich.“
18 Da antworteten die Juden und sprachen zu ihm: Was für ein Zeichen zeigst du uns, weil du solches tun darfst? 19 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Brechet diesen Tempel ab[b], und in drei Tagen will ich ihn aufrichten! 20 Da sprachen die Juden: In sechsundvierzig Jahren ist dieser Tempel erbaut worden, und du willst ihn in drei Tagen aufrichten? 21 Er aber redete von dem Tempel seines Leibes. 22 Als er nun von den Toten auferstanden war, dachten seine Jünger daran, daß er solches gesagt hatte, und glaubten der Schrift und dem Worte, das Jesus gesprochen hatte.
Jesus kennt den Menschen
23 Als er aber am Passahfeste in Jerusalem war, glaubten viele an seinen Namen, da sie seine Zeichen sahen, die er tat; 24 Jesus selbst aber vertraute sich ihnen nicht an, weil er alle kannte, 25 und weil er nicht bedurfte, daß jemand über einen Menschen Zeugnis gäbe; denn er wußte selbst, was im Menschen war.

2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

The Wedding at Cana

But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested (J)his glory. And (K)his disciples believed in him.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and (L)his brothers[b] and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.
Jesus Cleanses the Temple
13 (M)The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus (N)went up to Jerusalem. 14 (O)In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make (P)my Father's house a house of trade.” 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, (Q)“Zeal for your house will consume me.”
18 So the Jews said to him, (R)“What sign do you show us for doing these things?” 19 Jesus answered them, (S)“Destroy this temple, and in three days (T)I will raise it up.” 20 The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple,[c] and will you raise it up in three days?” 21 But he was speaking about (U)the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, (V)his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed (W)the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
Jesus Knows What Is in Man
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name (X)when they saw the signs that he was doing. 24 But Jesus (Y)on his part did not entrust himself to them, because (Z)he knew all people 25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for (AA)he himself knew what was in man.
