²³ Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival,^(A) many people saw the signs^(B) he was performing and believed^(C) in his name.^[a]

¹³ Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.^(A)

¹⁴ After the people saw the sign^(A) Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”^(B)

¹⁶ I pray that out of his glorious riches^(A) he may strengthen you with power^(B) through his Spirit in your inner being,^{(C) 17} so that Christ may dwell in your hearts^(D) through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted^(E) and established in love,

⁶ For in Christ Jesus^(A) neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value.^(B) The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.^(C)

³¹ Still, many in the crowd believed in him.^(A) They said, “When the Messiah comes, will he perform more signs^(B) than this man?”

³¹ To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching,^(B) you are really my disciples.

² He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi,^(A) we know^(B) that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs^(C) you are doing if God were not with him.”^(D)
