² Jesus also was invited to the wedding with ^(A)his disciples.

^40 (A)One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus^[a] was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. ⁴¹ He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found ^(B)the Messiah” (which means Christ). ⁴² He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of ^(C)John. You shall be called ^(D)Cephas” (which means ^(E)Peter^[b]).

Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael

^43 (F)The next day Jesus decided ^(G)to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” ⁴⁴ Now ^(H)Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵ Philip found ^(I)Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom ^(J)Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus ^(K)of Nazareth, ^(L)the son of Joseph.” ⁴⁶ Nathanael said to him, ^(M)“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, ^(N)an Israelite indeed, ^(O)in whom there is no deceit!” ⁴⁸ Nathanael said to him, “How ^(P)do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” ⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, ^(Q)“Rabbi, ^(R)you are the Son of God! You are the ^(S)King of Israel!”

¹⁷ And ^(A)whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, ^(B)giving thanks to God the Father through him.

^39 (A)A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only ^(B)in the Lord.

^4 (A)Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge ^(B)the sexually immoral and adulterous.

³¹ So, whether you eat or drink, or ^(A)whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

³⁴ The Son of Man has come ^(A)eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, ^(B)a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ ³⁵ Yet ^(C)wisdom is justified by all her children.”

A Sinful Woman Forgiven

^36 (D)One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at table. ^37 (E)And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, ³⁸ and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and ^(F)wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.

⁴⁵ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, ^(A)you did not do it to me.’

⁴⁰ And ^(A)the King will answer them, ^(B)‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these ^(C)my brothers,^[a] you did it to me.’
