¹¹ This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested ^(A)his glory. And ^(B)his disciples believed in him.

The Purpose of This Book

^30 (A)Now Jesus did many other signs ^(B)in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; ^31 (C)but these are written so that you may ^(D)believe that Jesus is the Christ, ^(E)the Son of God, and that by believing ^(F)you may have life ^(G)in his name.

¹⁴ And ^(A)the Word ^(B)became flesh and ^(C)dwelt among us, ^(D)and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son^[a] from the Father, full of ^(E)grace and ^(F)truth.

² This man came to Jesus^{[a] (A)}by night and said to him, ^(B)“Rabbi, ^(C)we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do ^(D)unless God is with him.”

² And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick.

³⁰ So they said to him, ^(A)“Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform?

²⁶ Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(A)you are seeking me, not because you saw ^(B)signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.

¹⁴ When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, ^(A)“This is indeed ^(B)the Prophet ^(C)who is to come into the world!”
