Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” 47 When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said of him, “Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael asked him, “Where did you get to know me?” Jesus answered, “I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.” 49 Nathanael replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” 50 Jesus answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.” 51 And he said to him, “Very truly, I tell you,[a] you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

Tu vedrai cose maggiori di queste». 51 Poi gli disse: «In verità, in verità vi dico che [da ora in poi] vedrete il cielo aperto e gli angeli di Dio salire e scendere sul Figlio dell’uomo».

44 Philippus aber war von Bethsaida, aus der Stadt des Andreas und Petrus.
45 Philippus findet den Nathanael und spricht zu ihm: Wir haben den gefunden, von welchem Mose im Gesetz und die Propheten geschrieben haben, Jesus, den Sohn Josephs, von Nazareth.
46 Und Nathanael sprach zu ihm: Kann aus Nazareth etwas Gutes kommen? Philippus spricht zu ihm: Komm und sieh!
47 Jesus sah den Nathanael auf sich zukommen und spricht von ihm: Siehe, wahrhaftig ein Israelit, in dem keine Falschheit ist!
48 Nathanael spricht zu ihm: Woher kennst du mich? Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Ehe dich Philippus rief, als du unter dem Feigenbaum warst, sah ich dich!
49 Nathanael antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Rabbi, du bist der Sohn Gottes, du bist der König von Israel!
50 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Du glaubst, weil ich dir sagte: Ich sah dich unter dem Feigenbaum? Du wirst Größeres sehen als das!
51 Und er spricht zu ihm: Wahrlich, wahrlich[a], ich sage euch: Künftig werdet ihr den Himmel offen sehen und die Engel Gottes auf- und niedersteigen auf den Sohn des Menschen[b]!

43 Másnap Jézus el akart menni Galileába. Ekkor találkozott Fülöppel, és megszólította: „Csatlakozz hozzám, és kövess engem!” 44 Fülöp Bétsaidából, András és Péter városából származott. 45 Később Fülöp találkozott Nátánaéllel, és elújságolta neki: „Megtaláltuk azt, akiről Mózes írt a Törvényben, és akiről a próféták is írtak! Jézusnak hívják, József fia, és Názáretből való.”
46 Nátánaél így válaszolt: „Ugyan, mi jó jöhet Názáretből?”
„Gyere, és nézd meg magad!” — válaszolt Fülöp.
47 Amikor Jézus látta, hogy Nátánaél közeledik feléje, azt mondta róla: „Nézzétek, itt jön egy igazi izraelita,[a] akiben semmi hamisság nincsen!”

44 Philippe était originaire de Bethsaïda[a], la ville d’André et de Pierre. 45 Philippe, à son tour, alla voir Nathanaël et lui dit : Nous avons trouvé celui dont Moïse a parlé dans la Loi[b] et que les prophètes ont annoncé : c’est Jésus, le fils de Joseph, de la ville de Nazareth.
46 – De Nazareth ? répondit Nathanaël. Que peut-il venir de bon de Nazareth ?
– Viens et vois toi-même ! répondit Philippe.
47 Jésus vit Nathanaël s’avancer vers lui. Alors il dit : Voilà un véritable Israélite, un homme d’une parfaite droiture.
48 – D’où me connais-tu ? lui demanda Nathanaël.
– Avant même que Philippe t’appelle, lui répondit Jésus, lorsque tu étais sous le figuier, je t’ai vu.
49 – Maître, s’écria Nathanaël, tu es le Fils de Dieu, tu es le Roi d’Israël !
50 – Tu crois, lui répondit Jésus, parce que je t’ai dit que je t’ai vu sous le figuier ? Tu verras de bien plus grandes choses encore. 51 Et il ajouta : Oui, je vous l’assure, vous verrez le ciel ouvert et les anges de Dieu monter et descendre entre ciel et terre par l’intermédiaire du Fils de l’homme[c].
