38 Now (B)after these things Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but a (C)secret one for (D)fear of the [a]Jews, requested of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. So he came and took away His body. 39 (E)Nicodemus, who had first come to Him by night, also came, (F)bringing a [b]mixture of (G)myrrh and aloes, about a [c](H)hundred litras weight.

38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate if he could take Jesus’ body away. He was a disciple of Jesus, but he kept it secret because he was afraid of the Judaeans. Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took his body. 39 Nicodemus came too (the man who, at first, had visited Jesus by night). He brought a concoction of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds in weight.
