³⁴ But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately ^(A)blood and water came out.

⁸ And there are three that bear witness on earth: ^(A)the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

The Certainty of God’s Witness

⁶ This is He who came ^(A)by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. ^(B)And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.

Mourning for the Pierced One

^10 (A)“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will ^(B)look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him ^(C)as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

^25 (A)Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you ^(B)from all your filthiness and from all your idols.

¹⁴ And I said to him, ^[a]“Sir, you know.”

So he said to me, ^(A)“These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and ^(B)washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Idolatry Cut Off

13 “In that ^(A)day ^(B)a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for ^(C)uncleanness.

^5 (A)not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through ^(B)the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, ^6 (C)whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷ that having been justified by His grace ^(D)we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, ^(A)the faithful ^(B)witness, the ^(C)firstborn from the dead, and ^(D)the ruler over the kings of the earth.

To Him ^(E)who ^[a]loved us ^(F)and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
