¹⁵ But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”

“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.

“We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

¹⁸ But the whole crowd shouted, “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!”^(A)

²² The crowd listened to Paul until he said this. Then they raised their voices and shouted, “Rid the earth of him!^(A) He’s not fit to live!”^(B)

³⁶ The crowd that followed kept shouting, “Get rid of him!”^(A)

⁶ As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him.^(A) As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”^(B)

²⁶ this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Take off the turban, remove the crown.^(A) It will not be as it was: The lowly will be exalted and the exalted will be brought low.^{(B) 27} A ruin! A ruin! I will make it a ruin! The crown will not be restored until he to whom it rightfully belongs shall come;^(C) to him I will give it.’^(D)

³¹ Pilate said, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.”

“But we have no right to execute anyone,” they objected.
