12 (A)So (B)the Roman [a]cohort, the [b]commander, and the (C)officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him, 13 and brought Him to (D)Annas first; for he was the father-in-law of (E)Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 Now Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that (F)it was in their best interest for one man to die in behalf of the people.

12 So the band of soldiers and their captain and the officers of the Jews seized Jesus and bound him. 13 First they led him to Annas; for he was the father-in-law of Ca′iaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 It was Ca′iaphas who had given counsel to the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
