Jesus Faces Annas and Caiaphas
12 So the band of soldiers and their captain and the officers of the Jews[a] arrested Jesus and bound him. 13 First they (A)led him to (B)Annas, for he was the father-in-law of (C)Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews (D)that it would be expedient that one man should die for the people.

12 Then the cohort and the military tribune and the officers of the Jews seized Jesus and tied him up, 13 and brought him[a] to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 (Now it was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews that it was better that one man die for the people.)
