³² (This was to fulfill what Jesus had said when he indicated the kind of death he was to die.)^(A)

³² And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people^[a] to myself.”^{(A) 33} He said this to indicate the kind of death he was to die.

¹⁴ And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,^(A)

² “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”^(A)

¹⁹ then they will hand him over to the gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised.”^(A)

³² For he will be handed over to the gentiles, and he will be mocked and insulted and spat upon.^{(A) 33} After they have flogged him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise again.”

²³ his corpse must not remain all night upon the tree; you must bury him that same day, for anyone hung on a tree is under God’s curse. You must not defile the land that the Lord your God is giving you for possession.^(A)

¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”^(A)—

²⁸ So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I am he^[a] and that I do nothing on my own, but I speak these things as the Father instructed me.^(A)

⁷ that the Son of Man must be handed over to the hands of sinners and be crucified and on the third day rise again.” ⁸ Then they remembered his words,^(A)
