¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, ^(A)having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant^[a] and cut off his right ear. (The servant's name was Malchus.)

⁴⁷ But one of those who stood by drew his ^(A)sword and struck the servant^[a] of the high priest and cut off his ear.

⁵¹ And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his ^(A)sword and struck the servant^[a] of the high priest and cut off his ear. ⁵² Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For ^(B)all who take the sword will perish by the sword. ^53 (C)Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me ^(D)more than twelve ^(E)legions of angels? ^54 (F)But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?”

⁴⁹ And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike ^(A)with the sword?” ⁵⁰ And one of them struck the servant^[a] of the high priest and cut off his right ear. ⁵¹ But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.

²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of ^(A)the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you ^(B)in the garden with him?”

³⁰ And ^(A)Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before ^(B)the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”

³³ Peter^[a] said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both ^(A)to prison and ^(B)to death.”
