²⁵ “Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you, and these know that you have sent me.^(A)

¹¹ And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one.^(A)

⁸ for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me.^(A)

²¹ But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.^(A)

²⁹ I know him because I am from him, and he sent me.”^(A)

⁴ In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing clearly the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.^(A)

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.^[a](A)

¹⁵ just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep.

⁵⁵ though you do not know him. But I know him; if I would say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I keep his word.^(A)

The Authority of the Son

¹⁹ Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing on his own but only what he sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father^[a] does, the Son does likewise.^{(A) 20} The Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you will be astonished.^(B)
