²⁵ “O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me.

¹¹ Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name;^[a] now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are.

²¹ They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the one who sent me.

⁸ for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me.

²⁹ But I know him because I come from him, and he sent me to you.”

⁴ Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God.^[a]

¹⁵ just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep.

⁵⁵ but you don’t even know him. I know him. If I said otherwise, I would be as great a liar as you! But I do know him and obey him.

⁸ And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered before the world was made.^[a]
