¹³ But when he, the Spirit of truth,^(A) comes, he will guide you into all the truth.^(B) He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

²⁶ But the Advocate,^(A) the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,^(B) will teach you all things^(C) and will remind you of everything I have said to you.^(D)

¹⁰ these are the things God has revealed^(A) to us by his Spirit.^(B)

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. ¹¹ For who knows a person’s thoughts^(C) except their own spirit^(D) within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. ¹² What we have received is not the spirit^(E) of the world,^(F) but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. ¹³ This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom^(G) but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.^[a]

¹⁷ the Spirit of truth.^(A) The world cannot accept him,^(B) because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be^[a] in you.

The Work of the Holy Spirit

²⁶ “When the Advocate^(A) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father^(B)—the Spirit of truth^(C) who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.^(D)

²⁷ As for you, the anointing^(A) you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things^(B) and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.^(C)

²⁰ But you have an anointing^(A) from the Holy One,^(B) and all of you know the truth.^[a](C)

⁴⁹ For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me^(A) to say all that I have spoken.
