²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, ‘Slaves are not greater than their master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.^(A)

¹² Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.^(A)

¹⁶ Very truly, I tell you, slaves are not greater than their master, nor are messengers^[a] greater than the one who sent them.^(A)

²⁴ “A disciple is not above the teacher nor a slave above the master;^(A)

⁷ But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me, because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.^(A)

⁹ persecuted but not forsaken, struck down but not destroyed,

¹² and we grow weary from the work of our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure;^(A)

²⁷ “For in this city, in fact, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the gentiles and the peoples of Israel, gathered together against your holy servant^[a] Jesus, whom you anointed,^{(A) 28} to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. ²⁹ And now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness,^{(B) 30} while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant^[b] Jesus.”^(C)

⁵¹ Very truly, I tell you, whoever keeps my word will never see death.”^(A)

¹⁵ who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets^[a] and drove us out; they displease God and oppose everyone^(A)
