18 (A)“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 (B)If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because (C)you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: (D)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, (E)they will also persecute you. (F)If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21 But (G)all these things they will do to you (H)on account of my name, (I)because they do not know him who sent me.

2 But we have renounced (A)disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice[a] cunning or (B)to tamper with God's word, but (C)by the open statement of the truth (D)we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even (E)if our gospel is veiled, (F)it is veiled to (G)those who are perishing. 4 In their case (H)the god of this world (I)has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing (J)the light of (K)the gospel of the glory of Christ, (L)who is the image of God. 5 For what (M)we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with (N)ourselves as your servants[b] for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, (O)“Let light shine out of darkness,” (P)has shone in our hearts to give (Q)the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
