² In My Father’s house are many ^[a]mansions; if it were not so, ^[b]I would have told you. ^(A)I go to prepare a place for you.

Assurance of the Resurrection

5 For we know that if ^(A)our earthly ^[a]house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house ^(B)not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial

³⁶ Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?”

Jesus answered him, “Where I ^(A)am going you cannot follow Me now, but ^(B)you shall follow Me afterward.”

¹⁴ For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.

² Then I, ^[a]John, saw ^(A)the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared ^(B)as a bride adorned for her husband.

¹² He who overcomes, I will make him ^(A)a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall ^(B)go out no more. ^(C)I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the ^(D)New Jerusalem, which ^(E)comes down out of heaven from My God. ^(F)And I will write on him My new name.

¹⁴ For those who say such things ^(A)declare plainly that they seek a homeland. ¹⁵ And truly if they had called to mind ^(B)that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. ¹⁶ But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed ^(C)to be called their God, for He has ^(D)prepared a city for them.

¹⁰ for he waited for ^(A)the city which has foundations, ^(B)whose builder and maker is God.

³³ Little children, I shall be with you a ^(A)little while longer. You will seek Me; ^(B)and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ so now I say to you.
