¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another ^(A)Helper,^[a] to be with you forever, ¹⁷ even ^(B)the Spirit of truth, ^(C)whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and ^(D)will be^[b] in you.

¹⁸ “I will not leave you as orphans; ^(E)I will come to you. ^19 (F)Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but ^(G)you will see me. ^(H)Because I live, you also will live. ^20 (I)In that day you will know that ^(J)I am in my Father, and ^(K)you in me, and ^(L)I in you. ^21 (M)Whoever has my commandments and ^(N)keeps them, he it is who loves me. And ^(O)he who loves me ^(P)will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and ^(Q)manifest myself to him.” ^22 (R)Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it ^(S)that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” ²³ Jesus answered him, ^(T)“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and ^(U)we will come to him and ^(V)make our home with him. ²⁴ Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And ^(W)the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.

²⁵ “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. ²⁶ But the ^(X)Helper, the Holy Spirit, ^(Y)whom the Father will send in my name, ^(Z)he will teach you all things and ^(AA)bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. ^27 (AB)Peace I leave with you; ^(AC)my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. ^(AD)Let not your hearts be troubled, neither ^(AE)let them be afraid.

⁷ Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for ^(A)if I do not go away, ^(B)the Helper will not come to you. But ^(C)if ^(D)I go, ^(E)I will send him to you. ^8 (F)And when he comes, he will ^(G)convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: ⁹ concerning sin, ^(H)because they do not believe in me; ^10 (I)concerning righteousness, ^(J)because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; ^11 (K)concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world ^(L)is judged.

¹² “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. ¹³ When ^(M)the Spirit of truth comes, ^(N)he will ^(O)guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but ^(P)whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. ¹⁴ He will ^(Q)glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. ^15 (R)All that the Father has is mine; ^(S)therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
