¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another ^(A)Helper,^[a] to be with you forever, ¹⁷ even ^(B)the Spirit of truth, ^(C)whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and ^(D)will be^[b] in you.

¹⁸ “I will not leave you as orphans; ^(E)I will come to you. ^19 (F)Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but ^(G)you will see me. ^(H)Because I live, you also will live. ^20 (I)In that day you will know that ^(J)I am in my Father, and ^(K)you in me, and ^(L)I in you.

⁹ You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact ^(A)the Spirit of God dwells in you. ^(B)Anyone who does not have ^(C)the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. ¹⁰ But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. ¹¹ If the Spirit of ^(D)him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus^[a] from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies ^(E)through his Spirit who dwells in you.

¹⁶ But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. ^(A)Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.
