¹⁵ “^(A)If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

The Holy Spirit

¹⁶ I will ask the Father, and He will give you another ^[a](B)Helper, so that He may be with you forever; ¹⁷ the Helper is ^(C)the Spirit of truth, ^(D)whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.

²⁶ But the ^(A)Helper, the Holy Spirit ^(B)whom the Father will send in My name, ^(C)He will teach you all things, and ^(D)remind you of all that I said to you. ^27 (E)Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. ^(F)[a]Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor ^[b]fearful. ^28 (G)You heard that I said to you, ‘I am going away, and ^(H)I am coming to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced ^[c]because ^(I)I am going to the Father, for ^(J)the Father is greater than I. ²⁹ And now ^(K)I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe.

The Day of Pentecost

2 When ^(A)the day of Pentecost ^[a]had come, they were all together in one place. ² And suddenly a noise like a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled ^(B)the whole house where they were sitting. ³ And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, ^[b]distributing themselves, and a tongue ^[c]rested on each one of them. ⁴ And they were all ^(C)filled with the Holy Spirit and began to ^(D)speak with different ^[d]tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out.

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were ^[a]pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “^[b]Brothers, ^(A)what are we to do?” ³⁸ Peter said to them, “^(B)Repent, and each of you be ^(C)baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For ^(D)the promise is for you and your children and for all who are ^(E)far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” ⁴⁰ And with many other words he solemnly ^(F)testified and kept on urging them, saying, “^[c]Be saved from this ^(G)perverse generation!” ⁴¹ So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand ^[d](H)souls.

⁷ But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the ^[a](A)Helper will not come to you; but if I go, ^(B)I will send Him to you. ⁸ And He, when He comes, will convict the world regarding sin, and righteousness, and judgment: ⁹ regarding sin, ^(C)because they do not believe in Me; ¹⁰ and regarding ^(D)righteousness, because ^(E)I am going to the Father and you no longer are going to see Me; ^11 (F)and regarding judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

¹³ But when He, ^(A)the Spirit of truth, comes, He will ^(B)guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. ¹⁴ He will ^(C)glorify Me, for He will take from Mine and will disclose it to you. ^15 (D)All things that the Father has are Mine; this is why I said that He takes from Mine and will disclose it to you.

^21 (A)The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and ^(B)the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will ^(C)reveal Myself to him.”

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, “^(A)If anyone loves Me, he will ^(B)follow My word; and ^(C)My Father will love him, and We ^(D)will come to him and make Our dwelling with him. ²⁴ The one who does not love Me ^(E)does not follow My words; and ^(F)the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.

²⁹ Jesus answered, “The ^[a]foremost is, ‘^(A)Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one; ^30 (B)and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ ³¹ The second is this: ‘^(C)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
