¹² “Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(A)whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I ^(B)am going to the Father.

^37 (A)If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; ³⁸ but if I do them, ^(B)even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that ^(C)the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”

³⁹ Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for ^(A)he has been dead four days.” ⁴⁰ Jesus said to her, ^(B)“Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see ^(C)the glory of God?” ⁴¹ So they took away the stone. And Jesus ^(D)lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. ^42 (E)I knew that you always hear me, but I said this ^(F)on account of the people standing around, ^(G)that they may believe that you sent me.” ⁴³ When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” ^44 (H)The man who had died came out, ^(I)his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and ^(J)his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

³⁷ Now when ^(A)they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, ^(B)what shall we do?” ³⁸ And Peter said to them, ^(C)“Repent and ^(D)be baptized every one of you ^(E)in the name of Jesus Christ ^(F)for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive ^(G)the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For ^(H)the promise is for you and ^(I)for your children and for all ^(J)who are far off, everyone ^(K)whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” ⁴⁰ And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, ^(L)“Save yourselves from this ^(M)crooked generation.” ⁴¹ So those who received his word were baptized, and ^(N)there were added that day about three thousand souls.

¹³ None of the rest dared join them, but ^(A)the people held them in high esteem. ¹⁴ And ^(B)more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, ^15 (C)so that they even ^(D)carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by ^(E)at least his shadow might fall on some of them. ¹⁶ The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, ^(F)bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

The Apostles Arrested and Freed

¹⁷ But the high priest rose up, and all who were with him (that is, the party of ^(G)the Sadducees), and filled with ^(H)jealousy

¹⁸ For I will not venture to speak of anything except ^(A)what Christ has accomplished through me ^(B)to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, ^19 (C)by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that ^(D)from Jerusalem and all the way around ^(E)to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ;

^3 (A)how shall we escape if we ^(B)neglect such a great salvation? It was ^(C)declared at first by the Lord, and it was ^(D)attested to us ^(E)by those who heard, ^4 (F)while God also bore witness ^(G)by signs and wonders and various miracles and by ^(H)gifts of the Holy Spirit ^(I)distributed according to his will.
