Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial
36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” (A)Jesus answered him, “Where I am going (B)you cannot follow me now, (C)but you will follow afterward.” 37 (D)Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” 38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, (E)the rooster will not crow till you have denied me three times.

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(A)
36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”
Jesus answered him, “I’m going where you cannot follow me now, though you will follow me later on.”
37 “Lord,[a] why can’t I follow you now?” Peter asked him. “I would lay down my life for you!”
38 Jesus answered him, “Would you lay down your life for me? I tell you[b] emphatically, a rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times.”
