^8 (A)Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, ^(B)“If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” ⁹ Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” ¹⁰ Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, ^(C)except for his feet,^[a] but is completely clean. And ^(D)you^[b] are clean, ^(E)but not every one of you.” ^11 (F)For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”

⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous^[a] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: ^(A)neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,^{[b] 10} nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And ^(B)such were some of you. But ^(C)you were washed, ^(D)you were sanctified, ^(E)you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

³ For ^(A)we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. ⁴ But when ^(B)the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, ⁵ he saved us, ^(C)not because of works done by us in righteousness, but ^(D)according to his own mercy, by ^(E)the washing of regeneration and ^(F)renewal of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he ^(G)poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷ so that ^(H)being justified by his grace we might become ^(I)heirs ^(J)according to the hope of eternal life.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ ^(A)the faithful witness, ^(B)the firstborn of the dead, and ^(C)the ruler of kings on earth.

To ^(D)him who loves us and ^(E)has freed us from our sins by his blood

^9 (A)If we confess our sins, he is ^(B)faithful and just to forgive us our sins and ^(C)to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
