²⁶ Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.”^[a] So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas son of Simon Iscariot.^[b](A)

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.”^{(A) 71} He was speaking of Judas son of Simon Iscariot,^[a] for he, though one of the twelve, was going to betray him.

²³ He answered, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.^(A)

³⁰ So, after receiving the piece of bread, he immediately went out. And it was night.

⁴ But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said, ⁵ “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?” ⁶ (He said this not because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.)

²¹ But see, the one who betrays me is with me, and his hand is on the table.^(A)

¹⁹ They began to be distressed and to say to him one after another, “Surely, not I?” ²⁰ He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread^[a] into the bowl^[b] with me.
