^18 (A)I am not speaking about all of you. I know the ones whom I have ^(B)chosen; but this is happening ^(C)so that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘^(D)He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’ ¹⁹ From now on ^(E)I am telling you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you may believe that ^(F)I am He.

²⁵ But this has happened so that the word that is written in their ^(A)Law will be fulfilled: ‘^(B)They hated Me for no reason.’

²⁴ So they said to one another, “^(A)Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it, to decide whose it shall be.” ^(B)This happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: “They ^(C)divided My garments among themselves, and they cast ^[a]lots for My clothing.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.

³⁶ For these things took place ^(A)so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: “^(B)Not a bone of Him shall be ^[a]broken.”

²⁴ And when they heard this, they raised their voices to God with one mind and said, “^[a]Lord, it is You who ^(A)made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything that is in them, ²⁵ who ^(B)by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said,

²⁷ For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy ^[e](F)Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both ^(G)Herod and ^(H)Pontius Pilate, along with ^(I)the ^[f]Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, ²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and ^(J)purpose predestined to occur. ²⁹ And ^[g]now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant it to Your bond-servants to ^(K)speak Your word with all ^(L)confidence, ³⁰ while You extend Your hand to heal, and ^[h](M)signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy ^[i](N)Servant Jesus.”
