¹⁸ I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But it is to fulfill the scripture, ‘The one who ate my bread^[a] has lifted his heel against me.’^(A)

²³ He answered, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.^(A)

¹² While I was with them, I protected them in your name that^[a] you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the one destined to be lost,^[b] so that the scripture might be fulfilled.^(A)

²⁰ He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread^[a] into the bowl^[b] with me.

²⁶ Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.”^[a] So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas son of Simon Iscariot.^[b](A)

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, “One who has bathed does not need to wash, except for the feet,^[a] but is entirely clean. And you^[b] are clean, though not all of you.” ¹¹ For he knew who was to betray him; for this reason he said, “Not all of you are clean.”^(A)

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.”^(A)

¹⁹ If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.^(A)
