Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet

13 It was just before the Passover Festival.^(A) Jesus knew that the hour had come^(B) for him to leave this world and go to the Father.^(C) Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

³⁴ “A new command^(A) I give you: Love one another.^(B) As I have loved you, so you must love one another.^(C)

²³ Jesus replied, “The hour^(A) has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.^(B)

¹⁹ We love because he first loved us.^(A)

²⁸ I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”^(A)

³ Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,^(A) and that he had come from God^(B) and was returning to God;

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives,^(A) just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her^{(B) 26} to make her holy,^(C) cleansing^[a] her by the washing^(D) with water through the word,
