12 Then Jesus, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany where Lazarus was, who had been dead and whom He had raised from the dead.
2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.
3 Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.
4 Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son who was to betray Him, said,
5 “Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor?”
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money bag and took what was put therein.
7 Then Jesus said, “Let her alone; against the day of My burying hath she kept this.
8 For the poor always ye have with you, but Me ye have not always.”

12 Jesus therefore six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus raised from the dead. 2 So they made him a supper there: and Martha served; but Lazarus was one of them that [a]sat at meat with him. 3 Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of [b]pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, that should [c]betray him, saith, 5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred [d]shillings, and given to the poor? 6 Now this he said, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the [e]bag [f]took away what was put therein. 7 Jesus therefore said, [g]Suffer her to keep it against the day of my burying. 8 For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.
