⁴⁰ “He^(A) has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts,
^(B)Lest they should see with their eyes,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.”

¹⁰ “Make ^(A)the heart of this people dull,
And their ears heavy,
And shut their eyes;
^(B)Lest they see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart,
And return and be healed.”

^(A)‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,
And seeing you will see and not ^(B)perceive;
¹⁵ For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears ^(C)are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have ^(D)closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I ^[a]should ^(E)heal them.’

^(A)‘Seeing they may not see,
And hearing they may not understand.’

^(A)‘Seeing they may see and not perceive,
And hearing they may hear and not understand;
Lest they should turn,
And their sins be forgiven them.’ ”

¹⁹ “I create ^(C)the fruit of the lips:
Peace, peace ^(D)to him who is far off and to him who is near,”
Says the Lord,
“And I will heal him.”

^(C)“God has given them a spirit of stupor,
^(D)Eyes that they should not see
And ears that they should not hear,
To this very day.”

^(E)“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
A stumbling block and a recompense to them.
¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see,
And bow down their back always.”
