³¹ Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out.^(A)

⁴ In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing clearly the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.^(A)

⁸ Everyone who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the works of the devil.^(A)

¹⁹ We know that we are God’s children and that the whole world lies under the power of the evil one.^(A)

¹² for our^[a] struggle is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present^[b] darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.^[c](A)

³⁰ I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me,^(A)

² He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years^{(A) 3} and threw him into the pit and locked and sealed it over him, so that he would deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be let out for a little while.^(B)

⁴ Little children, you are from God and have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

¹⁵ He disarmed^[a] the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it.^(A)

⁸ And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about^[a] sin and righteousness and judgment: ⁹ about sin, because they do not believe in me; ¹⁰ about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, and you will see me no longer; ¹¹ about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.^(A)
