^3 (A)Mary therefore took a pound^[a] of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

³ And another angel came and stood ^(A)at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with ^(B)the prayers of all the saints on ^(C)the golden altar before the throne, ⁴ and ^(D)the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and ^(A)knock. ^(B)If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, ^(C)I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

¹⁸ I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, ^(A)having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, ^(B)a fragrant offering, ^(C)a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.

³⁰ When he was at table with them, he took the bread and ^(A)blessed and broke it and gave it to them. ^31 (B)And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And ^(C)he vanished from their sight. ³² They said to each other, ^(D)“Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he ^(E)opened to us the Scriptures?”

Jesus Anointed at Bethany

^3 (A)And while he was at ^(B)Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,^[a] as he was reclining at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head.

Institution of the Lord's Supper

^26 (A)Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and ^(B)after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; ^(C)this is my body.” ²⁷ And he took a cup, and when he ^(D)had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, ²⁸ for ^(E)this is my ^(F)blood of the^[a] covenant, which is poured out for ^(G)many ^(H)for the forgiveness of sins.

³⁴ Then ^(A)the King will say to ^(B)those on his right, ‘Come, you ^(C)who are blessed by my Father, ^(D)inherit ^(E)the kingdom ^(F)prepared for you ^(G)from the foundation of the world.

¹¹ “But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there ^(A)a man who had no wedding garment.
