Renewed Efforts to Stone Jesus

³¹ Then ^(A)the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.

⁵⁹ Then ^(A)they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, ^(B)going^[a] through the midst of them, and so passed by.

¹² Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. ¹³ Then Paul answered, ^(A)“What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

^39 (A)Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection^(A)

²¹ From that time Jesus began ^(B)to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

²² Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, ^[a]“Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”

²³ But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, ^(C)Satan! ^(D)You are ^[b]an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

^24 [a]But ^(A)none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, ^(B)so that I may finish my ^[b]race with joy, ^(C)and the ministry ^(D)which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
