⁸ The disciples said to him, ^(A)“Rabbi, ^(B)the Jews were just now seeking to stone you, and are you going there again?”

^31 (A)The Jews picked up stones again to stone him.

⁵⁹ So ^(A)they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

¹² When we heard this, we and the people there ^(A)urged him not to go up to Jerusalem. ¹³ Then Paul answered, ^(B)“What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For ^(C)I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem ^(D)for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

^39 (A)Again they sought to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands.

Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection

^21 (A)From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that ^(B)he must go to Jerusalem and ^(C)suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on ^(D)the third day be raised. ²² And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord!^[a] This shall never happen to you.” ²³ But he turned and said to Peter, ^(E)“Get behind me, Satan! You are ^(F)a hindrance^[b] to me. For you ^(G)are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

²⁴ But ^(A)I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only ^(B)I may finish my course and ^(C)the ministry ^(D)that I received from the Lord Jesus, ^(E)to testify to ^(F)the gospel of ^(G)the grace of God.
