⁵⁰ You do not understand that it is better for you to have one man die for the people than to have the whole nation destroyed.”^(A)

¹⁴ Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it was better to have one person die for the people.^(A)

⁸ And why not say (as some people slander us by saying that we say), “Let us do evil so that good may come”? Their judgment is deserved!^(A)
