⁴⁰ Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would ^(A)see the glory of God?”

⁴ When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”

²³ Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

²⁴ Martha said to Him, ^(A)“I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

²⁵ Jesus said to her, “I am ^(B)the resurrection and the life. ^(C)He who believes in Me, though he may ^(D)die, he shall live. ²⁶ And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

¹⁷ (as it is written, ^(A)“I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, ^(B)who gives life to the dead and calls those ^(C)things which do not exist as though they did; ¹⁸ who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, ^(D)“So shall your descendants be.” ¹⁹ And not being weak in faith, ^(E)he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), ^(F)and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. ²⁰ He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, ²¹ and being fully convinced that what He had promised ^(G)He was also able to perform. ²² And therefore ^(H)“it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

²³ Now ^(I)it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, ²⁴ but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe ^(J)in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, ^25 (K)who was delivered up because of our offenses, and ^(L)was raised because of our justification.

The Word Becomes Flesh

^14 (A)And the Word ^(B)became ^(C)flesh and dwelt among us, and ^(D)we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, ^(E)full of grace and truth.

²⁰ So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: ^(A)Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”

¹⁸ But we all, with unveiled face, beholding ^(A)as in a mirror ^(B)the glory of the Lord, ^(C)are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as ^[a]by the Spirit of the Lord.

⁶ For it is the God ^(A)who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has ^(B)shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
