⁴ When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory^(A) so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”

⁴⁰ Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe,^(A) you will see the glory of God?”^(B)

³ “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.^(A)

¹⁴ If you are insulted because of the name of Christ,^(A) you are blessed,^(B) for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

²³ that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.^(A)

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial^(A)

³¹ When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man^(B) is glorified^(C) and God is glorified in him.^{(D) 32} If God is glorified in him,^[a] God will glorify the Son in himself,^(E) and will glorify him at once.

¹¹ What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs^(A) through which he revealed his glory;^(B) and his disciples believed in him.^(C)

³⁹ He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.”^{(A) 40} But they laughed at him.

After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. ⁴¹ He took her by the hand^(B) and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).^{(C) 42} Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.
