10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they (A)would have life, and [a]have it abundantly.

11 (B)I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd (C)lays down His life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand, and not a (D)shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters the flock. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and does not care about the sheep. 14 (E)I am the good shepherd, and (F)I know My own, and My own know Me, 15 just as (G)the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and (H)I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 And I have (I)other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice; and they will become (J)one flock, with (K)one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves Me, because I (L)lay down My life so that I may take it back. 18 (M)No one has taken it away from Me, but I (N)lay it down on My own. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it back. (O)This commandment I received from My Father.”

19 (P)Dissension occurred again among the Jews because of these words. 20 Many of them were saying, “He (Q)has a demon and (R)is insane. Why do you listen to Him?” 21 Others were saying, “These are not the words of one who is (S)demon-possessed. (T)A demon cannot open the eyes of those who are blind, can it?”

Jesus Asserts His Deity

22 At that time the [b]Feast of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem; 23 it was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple area, in the portico of (U)Solomon. 24 (V)The Jews then surrounded Him and began saying to Him, “How long [c]will You keep us in suspense? If You are the [d]Christ, tell us (W)plainly.” 25 Jesus answered them, (X)I told you, and you do not believe; (Y)the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because (Z)you are not of My sheep. 27 My sheep (AA)listen to My voice, and (AB)I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give them (AC)eternal life, and they will never perish; and (AD)no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 [e]My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.

20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?

21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.

24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
