⁸*He* was not the light, but that he might witness concerning the light.

⁹The true light was that which, coming into the world, lightens every man.

¹⁰He was in the world, and the world had [its] being through him, and the world knew him not.

John 1:8-10

English Standard Version

⁸^(A)He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

⁹^(B)The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. ¹⁰He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet ^(C)the world did not know him.
