⁴⁸ Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

²⁵ and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for ^(A)He knew what was in man.

The Corrupt Church

¹⁸ “And to the ^[a]angel of the church in Thyatira write,

‘These things says the Son of God, ^(A)who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: ^19 (B)“I know your works, love, ^[b]service, faith, and your ^[c]patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first.

^25 [a]And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report ^(A)that God is truly among you.

²⁴ Then Jacob was left alone; and ^(A)a Man wrestled with him until the ^[a]breaking of day. ²⁵ Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He ^[b]touched the socket of his hip; and ^(B)the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. ²⁶ And ^(C)He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”

But he said, ^(D)“I will not let You go unless You bless me!”

²⁷ So He said to him, “What is your name?”

He said, “Jacob.”

²⁸ And He said, ^(E)“Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but ^[c]Israel; for you have ^(F)struggled with God and ^(G)with men, and have prevailed.”

²⁹ Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.”

And He said, ^(H)“Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He ^(I)blessed him there.

³⁰ So Jacob called the name of the place ^[d]Peniel: “For ^(J)I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

^5 (A)Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to ^(B)light the hidden things of darkness and ^(C)reveal the ^[a]counsels of the hearts. ^(D)Then each one’s praise will come from God.
