John 1:42-50

⁴²He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of ^[a]^(A)John; you shall be called ^(B)Cephas” (which is translated ^[b]^(C)Peter).

⁴³^(D)The next day He ^[c]decided to go to ^(E)Galilee, and He *found ^(F)Philip. And Jesus *said to him, “^(G)Follow Me.” ⁴⁴Now ^(H)Philip was from ^(I)Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵^(J)Philip *found ^(K)Nathanael and *said to him, “We have found Him of whom ^(L)Moses wrote in the Law, and ^(M)the prophets also wrote: Jesus ^(N)the son of Joseph, from ^(O)Nazareth!” ⁴⁶Nathanael said to him, “^(P)Can anything good be from Nazareth?” ^(Q)Philip *said to him, “Come and see.” ⁴⁷Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said of him, “Here is truly an ^(R)Israelite, in whom there is no deceit!” ⁴⁸Nathanael *said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before ^(S)Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” ⁴⁹Nathanael answered Him, “^(T)Rabbi, You are ^(U)the Son of God; You are the ^(V)King of Israel!” ⁵⁰Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”
