^3 (A)All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. ^4 (B)In him was life,^[a] and ^(C)the life was the light of men. ^5 (D)The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

⁶ There was a man ^(E)sent from God, whose name was ^(F)John. ⁷ He came as a ^(G)witness, to bear witness about the light, ^(H)that all might believe through him.

¹³ In him you also, when you heard ^(A)the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, ^(B)were sealed with the ^(C)promised Holy Spirit, ¹⁴ who is ^(D)the guarantee^[a] of our ^(E)inheritance until ^(F)we acquire ^(G)possession of it,^{[b] (H)}to the praise of his glory.
